This distressing condition was reviewed by Mattison and Adele in Australian New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in March 2017. For women who have recurrent thrush (that is four or more episodes in a twelve month period), other diagnoses should be excluded. Six months of weekly Fluconazole (Diflucan) is commonly recommended. Local therapies are recommended for patients who are pregnant and immunodeficiency should be excluded. There is currently no place for treating partners. Clearly this is an area which requires further research.
